Community building

Fishers-of-men in the Field

According to a survey of 2009 there were youth communities belonging to parishes for the 14+ age group at 76 settlements of the Vác Diocese. It represents 26% of the settlements belonging to the Diocese. In the end of 2011 the youth pastor initiated the Fisher-of-men mission of the Youth Chaplaincy with the support of our Father Bishop.  The aim of our Fishers-of-men Mission is to send our colleagues to settlements and organize Christian communities there, lending a helping hand to the local priests and catechets. Foremost our youth communities operated by local priests and catechets, but our Fishers-of-men and youth volunteers could assist them.

Within the frameworks of this an increasing number of youth community builder fishers-of-men started to launch communities by occupation all around the diocese.

  • In 2014-2016 21 new youth or children communities were established at 16 settlements with the co-operation of our field and background fishers-of-men.
  • By the end of 2016 there were already 44 communities operating with their help.
  • In 2017 we registered parish connected youth communities at 95 locations, representing 33% of the settlements.
